Earth to humans: ‘I’m All Shook Up!’

After a busy morning of doing jobs out of the job bucket (Too many for just a job jar), it occurred to me that I’d better get around to taking my nap, or I might just miss my afternoon respite. I jumped into my “Comfy Chair,” pulled up a warm throw, and began to relax and go to my “Happy Place” of deep REM napping. There appears to be a great deal of chaos and uncertainty in the world. I think and hope that the leaders in the world are capable of handling all of the challenges the world seems to be facing at an accelerated pace. Everything is Topsy Turvy! Weather: Extremes seem to be the norm, with hurricanes, cold, and heat impacting everything from energy bills and daily activities to fires in many places. Volcanoes erupting, getting ready to erupt, earthquakes reminding me of the song “I’m All Shook Up!” by Elvis! Or “Shake Rattle and Roll” by the Comets. Floods, wars, rumors of wars, remind you of anything? Is it Biblical? Or is it Mother Earth stretching and repositioning herself, perhaps with a magnetic pole shift?

Everything is being questioned. Even the government recommended “Food Pyramid!” You know the one with lots of pasta, grains, and cereal – basically, a carbohydrate-based eating plan. It may work, but are people losing weight? Look at the beach pictures from the 1950s and early ’60s; everyone looked fit and slim. What changed? Fast Food? Fast Food Portions? Check out the original adult FF portions; they have fewer calories than one of today’s kids’ meals. RFK is changing food additives, from seed oils that were once considered unhealthy to beef tallow for frying. High Fructose Corn Syrup is questioned. A large soft drink company has just announced that it is returning to real sugar for its soda. Wait, is sugar good for you? Numerous petroleum-based food colorants are being removed from children’s confectionery products and substituted with natural coloring agents, as is already the practice in several other countries. Why were synthetic colors being used in the first place? Were they cheaper? Stay out of the sun and use a generous amount of sunblock lotion or cream. Yes, we need to be smart and not burn in the sun, but without the proper amount of sunshine, we need to take Vitamin D Supplements.

I’m old enough to remember when the experts stated that Coffee, eggs, beef, and butter were bad for you. Today, Coffee is good for you, Eggs are good for you, beef is good for you, and butter is better for you than margarine. You remember the white substance that came out with orange food coloring, which you mixed in to make it look like butter?

Only eat organically grown fruits and vegetables if you can afford it! Get rid of your gas stoves, and cook only on electric stoves, drive electric cars, don’t use electricity on peak usage times, or you will get charged a premium because we don’t have the capacity to keep up with all the electric demands, due to so many electric cars, electric stoves, and heating pads. Don’t water your grass in the summer, except on designated days. To be healthy, walk ten thousand steps a day and lose weight. Our Earth is overpopulated! Even though Earth.Org says 50% of the Earth’s surface is relatively untouched. When you fly from coast to coast and look down from the plane, there seems to be lots of room, forest, plains, and land that does not look overpopulated.

I suggest that we remain grounded in our personal beliefs and choices, as long as it does not negatively affect others. I like the old saying, “Moderation in everything!” Except napping, of course!
