Senior news: December 2022

OSCODA COUNTY- Welcome December! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!! Winter didn’t really give us a chance to ease into it this year. The temps dropped to single digits very quickly. I love holiday time, but the cold, not so much anymore. We just don’t get along as well as we used to. However, it’s Michigan and I love it here.

We are still taking donations for our Christmas boxes that get delivered to our clientele. Items that would be helpful with this are paper products such as: toilet paper, kleenex, paper towel or napkins, socks for men or women, cleaning supplies and candy.

This year the Christmas Party and buffet dinner will be on Dec. 15 from 2 pm to 4pm. Santa and Jingles will be here with us to help celebrate. There will be a breakfast meal served on Dec. 22 at 10 am, then the Senior Center will be closed starting Dec. 23, and we will be returning on Tues., Jan. 3. We hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday season.

The Together We Can food drops happening for December are on Thurs. Dec. 1 and Thurs. Dec. 15, from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm. Keep in mind though if they run out of food they will be gone before 2:30 pm.

The CSFP (senior cheese box) will be on Tues., Dec. 13 from 10 to 11 am. All the food drops happen at the Fairgrounds.

The Center’s board meeting will be on Mon. Dec 12 at 9 am.  The public is welcome to attend.

The Full Moon, also called the Cold Moon, will be shining on us Dec. 7.

Remember, there is always at least one thing to be grateful for daily. Have a joyous month and keep smiling!
