NORTHERN MICHIGAN – The Michigan State Police (MSP) posts in Houghton Lake, Gaylord, Cadillac and Alpena are welcoming two new troopers to the post who graduated from the 144th Trooper Recruit
School in Lansing last week.
The 144th Trooper Recruit School began July 9, with 85 prospective troopers (61 successful graduates) at the MSP Training Academy in Lansing. Recruits received training in patrol techniques, report writing, ethics, cultural diversity and implicit bias, decision making, leadership, first aid, criminal law, crime scene processing, firearms, water safety, defensive tactics, and precision driving.
Assigned to Cadillac are Troopers Cody Campbell (Lake City) and Logan Hofmeister (White Pigeon).
Assigned to the Alpena post are Troopers Carly Arnett (Whitmore Lake) Jacob Bruski (Posen), Karissa
Rabeau (Rogers City) and Kelley Stark of Alpena.
Assigned to Houghton Lake is Trooper Brenden Spencer (Roscommon).
Assigned to Gaylord is Trooper Logan McQueen (Petoskey).
Troopers began their new assignments this week.
The MSP is actively recruiting for future trooper recruit schools, including the 145th Trooper Recruit School, slated to begin Jan. 21, 2024, and the 146th Lateral Entry Trooper Recruit School for licensed police officers, slated to begin May12, 2024.
