North Central receives $7,000 gift from the Women’s Club

PETOSKEY – North Central Michigan College announced today that it has received a $7,000 gift from the Women’s Club to support scholarships for students living in Emmet County.  The gift will help seven Emmet County students reach their academic and career goals in 2022-2023.

Known for its support of organizations and causes linked to the betterment of the community, the Women’s Club designated its annual education donation for students pursuing North Central degrees, a first in the group’s 38-year history.

“The Women’s Club is excited to partner with North Central Michigan College to provide students in Emmet County the opportunity to pursue their dreams and attain a first-class education right here in Northern Michigan,” said member Carolyn Whittle.

The gift is an investment in students’ potential, according to Chelsea Platte, vice president for advancement and executive director of the NCMC Foundation.

“North Central is grateful to the Women’s Club for its generosity and belief in North Central’s mission,” Platte said. “Their commitment to education and the learners of Emmet County is inspiring and will make a real difference in the lives of our students.”

Founded in 1984, the mission of the Women’s Club has been to learn and to serve: to learn without prejudice or judgment about the people and organizations in its community, and to serve those in need. Since its inception, the Women’s Club has donated more than $300,000 to worthy causes in Emmet County, including thousands of dollars to support education and fund college attendance. For more information, visit www.nmiwomensclub.com.
