PRUDENVILLE— A longtime Denton Township summer tradition will return Saturday, July 25, when the Denton Township Fire Department holds its annual ox roast.
Serving will begin at 11 a.m. and continue until the food is sold out. The event will be held at the Denton Township Fire Department, located at 2600 S. Gladwin Road in Prudenville.
The $15 meal will feature sliced beef with a potato, corn and a roll.
The event will also include an auxiliary bake sale, music, a 50/50 raffle and a dunk tank. Meals and desserts will be available while supplies last.
Last year, hundreds of people attended the event for smoked beef and homemade desserts. Firefighters and volunteers worked throughout the day preparing food and serving guests.
This year’s gathering also comes during a milestone year for the department. The Denton Township Fire Department was established in 1926, when the township purchased its first fire truck. The department is marking 100 years of service in 2026.
Residents are encouraged to arrive early because the ox roast traditionally draws a large crowd and serving will end when the food is sold out.
