Warbler Festival supported by Rotary

ROSCOMMON – The Roscommon Rotary Club donated $500 to the Kirtland’s Warbler festival at their regular meeting on Thursday at Fred’s.

The festival, held the first weekend in June features Kirtland’s Warbler tours, national speakers, Michigan scientists with snake and turtle displays and a craft show.

Pictured with Roscommon High School Interact students are Rotary President Nancy Williams (front, blue shirt), Festival President Mike Petrucha (yellow shirt) and  Tom Dale (holding check).

The festival, now held at the CRAF Center in Roscommon, was originally held at Kirtland Community College before being canceled by former college President Tom Quinn.

With the assistance of Huron Pines, the festival was revitalized in 2015 when Abby Ertel of Huron Pines, met with Mark Constance of Up North Voice and Mark Janeczko who worked on restoration of the Piping Plover, for the initial meeting during a February blizzard at the Crawford County Library.

For information on being part of the festival contact Mike Petrucha at mepetrucha@hotmail.com
