Having a great winter so far

By Bev Vanmeter

Happy Valentine’s Day! Old man winter is back. This is good news for those who enjoy ice fishing, snowmobiling, having fires in the fireplace and when it snows like a snow globe.

This Saturday is the St Helen Snowpackers Annual Snow Run. Tickets are $20 which includes four pit stops on a trail ride of about 55 miles. Lunch is served at pit stop #2 – hot dogs, chili, coffee or water. Back at the club house, we will have pulled pork sandwiches for a donation along with a silent auction to be held in the pole barn. The U.P. Get Away #2 will also be drawn that evening. For a fun filled day of snowmobiling, sign up for this annual event. Silent auction is open to the public.

An ice fishing tournament will be held on Lake St Helen February 17, 18 and 19. For more information, stop by St Helen Power Sports or visit the NAIFC web page.

On Wednesday, March 29, the Chamber along with the DDA will be hosting an informational get together at the Richfield Township Hall from 6pm to 7pm. Diane Love-Suvada will be the guest speaker from The Sawmill Rural Business Center.

The Chamber is busy working on the Kick Off to Summer which happens in May. If you have never volunteered, you don’t realize how much work is involved. We, as a Chamber, strive to bring commerce into St Helen. We have a wonderful town and many outdoor things to do.

The Chamber meetings are the last Wednesday of each month at 6pm in the Benjamin Building. Everyone is welcome. Don’t forget to buy local!
