Tip-Up Town U.S.A. Kick off

HOUGHTON LAKE – Tip-Up Town U.S.A. held it’ official Kick-off party Jan. 7 at the Houghton Lake Playhouse.

Doug ‘Split Shot’ Macon and Ken ‘Pressure Crack’ Nebor of the People’ Party of Questionable Behavior are this year’ Tip Up Town USA Mayor and Marshall.

‘No one else was running and so we had to fill the void,’ Macon said. ‘We will make this the best Tip-Up Town ever!’

Taylar Akin was chosen as the 2017 Tip-Up Town USA Queen

Akin graduated from Houghton Lake High School and continued her studies at Michigan State University, recently obtaining her bachelor’ degree in Marketing. She is currently employed at Diebold Insurance as an account executive. She has chosen the Houghton Lake Lions Club as her charity and is committed to raising $5000 for their programs.

She and her mother Kim will be the first ones in for this year’ Polar Dip.

Tip-Up Town runs for two weekends this month – Jan. 20-22 and Jan. 27-29. More information can be found on their website www.tip-up-town.com.
