ROSCOMMON- Forty people added to their home libraries during the Roscommon District Area Library’s Bingo For Books event on April 28. The spring event, organized by the Friends of RDAL, gave participants the chance to win “Bingo Bucks” to purchase free books that had been removed from the library’s collection due to low circulation.
Players of all ages joined in the fun, with “meows” and other creative “magic words” replacing the traditional call of “bingo,” adding laughter and friendly competition throughout the event.
Caller Erin Layton kept the games lively by finding creative ways to award extra “Bingo Bucks”. By the end of the event, participants were carrying out books by the armload, along with bags and boxes full of reading treasures.
The library will host book take-in sales on Fridays from 2 – 4 p.m. between May 1 and June 30, as well as Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The date for the fall used book sale will be announced later.
Friends of RDAL also encourage community members to join the organization. An annual membership is $5. For more information, visit the Roscommon District Area Library.
