Ogemaw Hills to host vintage snowmobile event

WEST BRANCH – The Ogemaw Hills Snowmobile Club (OHSC) is hosting its 14th Annual Vintage Snowmobile Show and Ride on Feb. 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This family-focused event will be held at the OHSC clubhouse, located at 2846 Fairview Road (near the intersection of Rose City Road).

The event will feature free entry for all events.

There is a non-judged static show display of over 300 antique and vintage snowmobiles from Michigan’s amazing winter past. At midday there will be a short memorial ceremony honoring members that have passed away in the last year.

For those with antique snowmobile clothing, there will be a crowd-judged “vintage snowmobile clothing fashion show.” Everyone is welcome to get dressed in their best and gaudiest old sled clothing.

There will be a guided trail ride for the vintage sleds that starts about 1:30 p.m. and includes an “old sled parade” around the grounds before heading out on the fantastic trails of our Ogemaw Hills for a couple hour guided ride in the hills.

Visitors will enjoy a heated club house, hot coffee and cocoa – along with the world famous “rake dogs” – all provided by the club for donations. A huge bonfire will be tended to all day. Bring your stories with you to share.

Club Trustee Doug Lubahn said the event is the club’s annual fundraiser.

“This event (helps us) continue to support our great West Branch, Rose City, and Ogemaw Hills area,” he said. “We provide a college scholarship, donate to the local food bank and support many other locally specific causes.”

The day of the event the club will hold its annual snowmobile raffle. Tickets are available online and at the event. Need not be present to win.

This year the winner gets a pristine blue 2014 Polaris 120cc youth snowmobile that is all but brand new. There is a cash option if the winner doesn’t want to be the best parent, grandparent, aunt or uncle.

Club merchandise and memberships will also be available.
