Artist Guild thankful for Gladwin County Community Foundation grant

Gladwin Area Artists Guild
Artist Guild’s March 3 members’ meeting.

GLADWIN COUNTY – Following the success of the Artist Guild’s inaugural Art Walk in downtown Gladwin Guild members began questioning how to make that event even better. The answer, of course, was to add more art; we would invite all Gladwin County artists to participate. But how to expand when the number of Guild-owned panels used to hang art was limited? And, again, the answer was found in our own backyard at the Gladwin County Community Foundation.

The Gladwin County Community Foundation strengthens our community by providing leadership, fostering collaboration on local needs and issues, and encouraging a legacy of giving through grants, scholarships and events. January 15, 2022, was the first deadline for applying to the Foundation via an e-grant. On Jan. 14 Artist Guild officers, Lora Perkins, Linda Clark and Jan Berg Rezmer submitted the first e-grant they had ever written requesting sufficient funds to purchase twenty art-hanging panels – enough to host all-inclusive art events. We crossed our fingers and waited to hear.

It is difficult to express how grateful we were to get the call on Feb. 28th informing us Gladwin County Community Foundation awarded us the full grant amount we requested, $2,034. It was a day to celebrate, not just for the Artist Guild, but for our entire community. Bringing the gift of more art, creative energy and color to this area is at the heart of the Guild’s Mission Statement and many of its members’ personal passions. But every resident will be touched and benefit from the gift that is Gladwin County Community Foundation. The positive, driving force for good the Foundation brings to this area through its hard work and vision cannot be quantified. Thank you so much.
