PRUDENVILLE – The 3rd annual Trestle Park Express and Tree Lighting Dec. 4 had a record turn-out.
‘The first year we had 11 kids,’ Friends of Trestle Park Events Coordinator Mary Michela said. ‘We are very happy with the attendance this year.’
On Sunday the Denton Township Stone Hall was bustling with kids, parents and volunteers. Michela estimates 60 kids and their parents attended this year. They had a chance to make ornaments, listen to a story, get their face painted and visit with Santa.
‘Santa and Mrs. Claus are always a big hit,’ Michela said.
After enjoying the activities at the hall, everyone walked over to Trestle Park for carols, hot chocolate, and to watch the tree lighting.
‘I’m just thrilled with these parents and kids interacting, doing something simple and fun,’ Michela exclaimed.
In addition to the Friends of Trestle Park, other volunteers included members of North Central Area Credit Union, the Houghton Lake Library, and National Junior Honor Society and National Honor Society students from Houghton Lake Public Schools.
