Exciting upgrades improve CRAF center

New changes at Roscommon CRAF Center in form of Grants

ROSCOMMON – Patricia Riss, Roscommon CRAF (Community Recreation Activities Fitness) Center manager since Feb. 2016, is excited about changes at the center.

‘I can’t say how many people asked me over the phone, ‘Do you do crafts at the CRAFT center?’ No! We don’t do crafts at the CRAF center. It’ not the crafts center, it’ the CRAF Center,’ Riss said.

According to Riss, people don’t know they exist. She hopes that changes when they install a new sign with a new logo.

‘The logo has been designed,’ Riss said. ‘We are fundraising to create the (sign).’

Once they raise $2,500 they will get a matching grant from the Roscommon DDA.

The DDA sign grant is not the only change Riss is excited about.

‘I would like to urge everyone to come in; see the upgrade we’ve done; the cardio room, the new work-out equipment and accessories. Hopefully they will come to work out with us,’ she said.

The cardio room has been painted and new black, rubber floor installed. New treadmills, exercise bikes, elliptical bikes and big screen TVs have been added.

The new equipment in the weight room includes a power lifting rack, a rack for the medicine walls, a new six station cable weight and a new weight lifting bench.

‘The Roscommon Rotary gave us a grant to purchase our new equipment,’ Riss said. ‘The upgrading was done with a few different grants,’ she added.

‘Our CRAF center is the best. I want the public to know this isn’t just a place to work out, it’ a great place to hang out – make new friends,’ Riss said.
