Donna Jean Harbaugh of Houghton Lake

Donna Jean Harbaugh, 89, of Houghton Lake passed away July 8, 2016 at home with her loving family by her side.

Donna was born on September 24, 1926 in Ypsilanti to Edwin and Laura (Helmer) Tombsett. She grew up in Detroit and graduated from Redford High School.

Donna was married on May 26, 1946 in Detroit to Robert J Harbaugh. He preceded her in death in 2013. She was employed as a cashier by Detroit area Farmer Jack’s, from which she retried. The couple moved from Detroit to Houghton Lake more than 30 years ago.

Mrs. Harbaugh loved animals of all kinds and was a member of the ASPCA.

Surviving are her two sons, Roger of Houghton Lake, and Kenneth of Clare; two daughters, Sherry (Ghassan) Aoun of Redford Twp., and Bonnie (Johnnie) Bielicki of Houghton Lake; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; friend and caregiver, Stella E. Barr; and several nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; son, Charles Harbaugh; three brothers and one sister.

No services will be conducted. Memorial contributions in memory of Donna are asked to be directed to the Roscommon County Animal Shelter.

Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
