David Welters, 70, of Mio

David Paul Welters, 70, of Mio, Michigan, passed away on July 14, 2026.

Born on December 17, 1955, in Newberry, Michigan, David was known to many as “Cable Dave” from his years working in the cable industry. He also owned and operated Jig’s UP Bait and Tackle for sixteen years, where he shared his passion for fishing with the community.

David enjoyed the outdoors and spent much of his free time fishing, hunting, and golfing. Whether he was playing a round of golf or serving as a course ranger, he appreciated being outside and spending time with family and friends.

David is survived by his wife, Pamela “Pam” Welters; his son, Jonathan Welters, and daughter-in-law, Angela Welters; his daughter, Kay Peterson; his grandchildren, Henry Welters, Mary Welters, and Jeffrey Peterson; his brother, Robert Welters; and his sister, Mary (David) Brown.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Marilynn Welters, and his brother, Steve Welters.

David will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his passion for fishing and golfing, and the many friendships he made throughout his life.
