ROSCOMMON– Several Roscommon County students are turning their summer goals into reality thanks to Summer Scholarships from the Roscommon County Community Foundation (RCCF). These awards help students access camps, training programs, and enrichment opportunities that foster personal growth, leadership, and skill development.
Among this year’s recipients is Rowan Beltz of Roscommon Middle School, who received the Larry Sumerix Memorial Summer Music Scholarship and the Richard & Margaret Torongo Memorial Scholarship. Rowan will attend Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp to advance her clarinet studies. A straight-A student active in athletics, theater, and academics, she has already demonstrated exceptional dedication and talent.
Recipients of the Big Buck Open Scholarship and Kimberly L. Mires Athletic & Music Scholarship include Alaina Civinskas, Mirabelle Balcom, and Isla Schaeffer.
Alaina, a state-ranked cross-country runner and honor student, will attend HQ2 Running Camp to continue building her athletic skills and leadership abilities. Mirabelle, a longtime runner and wrestler with collegiate track ambitions, will also attend HQ2 Running Camp, where she hopes to further develop her performance and mentoring skills.
Isla Schaeffer will attend Nike Golf Camp at A-Ga-Ming Golf Resort. A standout golfer, student leader, and recipient of the Jim “Smitty” Smith Athletic Fund Scholarship, Isla helped revive girls golf at Roscommon High School and reach the state finals in the program’s first season.
“These scholarships help students pursue what inspires them while building confidence and lifelong skills,” said RCCF Executive Director Suzanne Luck.
Together, these students represent the talent, determination, and promise of Roscommon County’s future.
