ROSCOMMON– Explore the outdoors through hands-on activities at the Preserve! The Gahagan Nature Preserve will host Nature Camps for youth entering grades K-8 this summer. Each week’s program features different activities, and is specifically designed to engage, challenge, and excite with a variety of outdoor-focused fun.

Outdoor Investigators, June 29 – July 2: Join us this week for a curiosity-filled camp where kids become outdoor investigators, using observation skills to solve nature’s mysteries. Campers follow tracks, chewed leaves, feathers, and sounds to discover which animals have been around and what they’ve been doing. With simple field notebooks, tools, and teamwork, they crack daily cases while building problem-solving skills and connecting with local wildlife.

Nature Artists, July 13-16: Let creativity bloom at Nature Artists Week! Campers create outdoor-inspired art through nature walks, sketching, and collaborative projects that explore the colors and patterns of the wild. It’s a fun way for young artists to connect with nature and express their creativity.

Fantastic Fungi, July 27-30: Step into the world of fungi! Campers explore trails, identify local mushrooms, and learn how fungi support healthy ecosystems. With hands-on crafts, hikes, and microscope sessions, it’s a week of curiosity and woodland discovery.

Each program is held from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., Monday – Thursday. Registration is $160 per youth, per week and can be found at https://www.gahagannature.org/nature-camp. Contact the Gahagan Nature Preserve with questions at [email protected] or 989-275-3217. The Preserve is located at 585 Southline Rd.
