REGION– The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity has awarded $4 million in State Apprenticeship Expansion grants to 13 workforce partners statewide, helping 606 residents access paid Registered Apprenticeship programs.
Michigan Works! Region 7B received $481,800 to expand apprenticeship opportunities in Arenac, Clare, Gladwin, Iosco, Ogemaw, and Roscommon counties.
The funding will help connect local workers with earn-as-you-learn training programs that lead to industry-recognized credentials and good-paying, in-demand careers. State officials say 94% of Michigan apprentices remain employed one year after completing training, with a median salary above $80,700.
