OTSEGO COUNTY – On June 12, 2025, at approximately 8:10 p.m., troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Gaylord Post responded to a reported shooting at a residence in Hayes Township, Otsego County.
According to a statement from the MSP, preliminary investigation revealed that a 64-joint year-old resident of the home had been fatally shot.
A 70-year-old suspect, who also lives at the residence, remained at the scene and was taken into custody without incident by responding troopers.
he suspect has been identified as 70-year-old Michael Haley of Gaylord. Haley was arraigned in the 87-A District Court in Otsego County on June 13 on one count of Homicide. The bond was set at $100,000 cash or surety. His next scheduled court appearance is on June 20 at 1:30 p.m.
The suspect was lodged at the Otsego County Jail as the investigation continues.
