Margaret Flynn, 98, of Gladwin

Margaret A. (McKenna) Flynn, age 98, of Gladwin, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. She was born on November 2, 1926, the daughter of John Francis and Anna Marie (Sullivan) McKenna, in Clare Co. On September 29, 1951, Margaret married the love of her life, Raymond P. Flynn. Together, they shared many years filled with love and cherished memories until he preceded her in death in 1994. Margaret was a dedicated and hardworking individual who spent many years as the office manager at Flynn Lumber until her well-deserved retirement. 

Margaret never shied away from an adventure anywhere on the planet, she loved both water and snow skiing, devoting 60 years of winters to the slopes. She had a deep affection for gardening and anything flowers, enjoyed going to the Cottage on Heart Lake in Waters, MI, and loved to play golf.

Margaret was a world traveler. It was often difficult to find places she had not yet been to. Her travels gave her the opportunity to utilize her love of photography, allowing her to capture the beauty she encountered. Generosity was another important aspect of Margaret’s life, as she frequently supported various organizations.

Her adventurous spirit knew no bounds, and she embraced new experiences with enthusiasm, even at the age of 90. Above all, Margaret cherished the time spent with her nieces and nephews, who held a special place in her heart.

She is survived by her son: Timothy Flynn and his wife Cecilia Bauer; sister: Mildred Wells of Alpena; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband: Raymond; parents: J. Francis and Anna Marie McKenna; and siblings: Francis, Mark, William, Germaine, Jerome, Mary, and John. 

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home in Gladwin. Margaret will be laid to rest at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Gladwin Historical Society and Mid-Michigan Community College.
