Jerome “Nubby” Lee Cunningham, a man known for his loving heart and adventurous spirit, passed away on November 22, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Born on June 24, 1974, in Bay City, Michigan, to Edward and Laura (Miller) Cunningham.
Jerome graduated from Standish Sterling High School before attending some college. He devoted 20 years in his career at Arenac Castings as a grinder, where his colleagues knew him as a dedicated hard worker. 

In Sterling, Michigan, the year 2000 marked a significant milestone in Jerome’s life when he met the love of his life, Ashely Veitengruber. Their journey together flourished, leading to their marriage on July 27, 2017. This union only deepened Jerome’s passion for family—a theme central to his life.

Surviving Jerome are his beloved wife, Ashely, his children, Eddie Cunningham and Chelsea (Colton) Sawyer, and his grandchildren, Jonathan Cunningham, Liam, and Faith Anderson. He will be lovingly remembered by his nieces, Sydney Veitengruber, Tiara Mervyn, Summer (Ethan) Sanchez, Leah Veitengruber, Gabby Alexander, Keagan Skacal, Kayden Skacal, and nephews, Sean Mervyn, Preston Cunningham, Damian Cunningham, Connor Veitengruber, Brayden Marvin, Brian Waite Jr., Rylan Wilson, Bobby Alexander. Jerome also leaves behind his father, Edward Cunningham, his brother, Rodney (Wanda) Cunningham, and sister, Terra Marvin. He now joins his mother, Laura Cunningham and Aunt Mary Craig in eternal peace.


Jerome’s generosity extended beyond his family, as he welcomed all children into his life with open arms. His interests kept him outdoors, whether it was camping, floating on the river, or simply enjoying the company of his family and friends.
Always remembered as the loving and generous soul that he was, Jerome’s legacy will continue through the countless lives he touched with his adventurous spirit. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of many, but his memory will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
A Memorial Service will take place on Friday, November 29, 2024, at Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home-Standish Chapel at 6:00pm with Pastor Ladd White presiding. Friends and family may visit at the funeral home from 2:00pm until time of service.
