Smitz commits to Aquinas

ROSCOMMON – Grant Smitz, a three-sport athlete from Roscommon High School, has signed his national letter of intent to continue his baseball career as a Saint. Smitz, who captains the soccer, basketball, and baseball squads for the Bucks, will study Pre-Physical Therapy at Aquinas College.

At Roscommon, Grant has showed his versatility and athleticism as he has been named All Jack Pine Conference in all three sports he participates in. He also was named to the Honorable Mention All-State squad in soccer this past fall. Grant, a three-year varsity starter on the diamond, began his baseball career at age five. He plays summer ball for the Palacios Tailors.

Smitz stated, “A pre-physical therapy program that supports my career goals, a beautiful campus, and coaches who made me feel welcome and excited to be a part of the baseball program are the reasons I chose Aquinas College.”

Coach Doug Greenslate added, “We are very happy with our 2017 recruiting class at this time. We targeted certain student athletes early, that filled our position needs, and we are thrilled that those individuals committed to become Aquinas Saints. These students excel academically, and are dedicated ball players, who will add value to our program and contribute to the team immediately. Grant brings good size and athleticism to the middle infield.”
