Johnson continues to pace Bobcat harriers

LAKE CITY – The Houghton Lake boys cross country team scored 69 points and was fourth at the Lake City Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 17. David Johnson was first to cross the finish line for the Bobcats, coming in eighth place in 19:40.51. Fairview won the meet with 27 points and Maple City Glen Lake took second (56).

Corey Allen was next across for the Bobcats when he clocked 22:15.47, followed by Yuhe Chen (22:38.07), Conner Allen (22:50.59), Joey Stone (25:13.04) and Grant Robinson (26:29.59).

Maple City Glen Lake was first in the girls’ meet with 28 points followed by Lake City with 52. Houghton Lake did not score. Lexi Blanchard did come in eighth with a 24:27.79 for the Bobcats. Sarah Vick also ran for Houghton Lake and finished in 30:13.27.

David Johnson was the first Houghton Lake runner to cross the finish line. And that was in 14th place with a time of 19 minutes 55.04 seconds in the Sanford-Meridian meet on Wednesday, Sept. 7. The Bobcats scored 110 points. Sanford-Meridian won the meet with 32 and Beaverton was second with 51 points.

The next Bobcat runner to finish was Henry Wallison who came in 19th place (20:54.49). He was followed by teammates Hunter Tyrell in 26th place (21:21.16) and Corey Allen in 27th place (21:22.14), Connor Allen in 33rd place (23:38.63), Yuhe Chen in 36th place (24:04.68), Grant Robinson in 45h place (27:44.21) and Joey Stone in 47th place (28:09.88).

Sanford-Meridian also won the girls race with 24 points and Midland Bullock Creek was second with 49. Houghton Lake did score. Sarah Vick was the only Bobcat runner to finish with a 27th place (30:48.35).
