‘Catch Us If You Can’ prize drawing April 8

HOUGHTON LAKE – The Houghton Lake Area Tourism Bureau will be hosting its 12th annual Catch Us If You Can drawing Sunday, April 8, at Spicer’ Boat City at Houghton Lake.

The 2017-18 contest was extended to year-round for the first time. There were 19 successful anglers that will be at Spicer’ Boat City for the drawing. One of them will have the opportunity to match two envelopes for $100,000 and a new Lund boat package. The guaranteed prize is $1,000 cash, with a second-place prize of a certificate for Mark Martin Ice Fishing School valued at $500.

The 19 contestants range in age from six to 87. One of the fishermen, Randy Sherbino of St. Helen, who retired from Spicer’, said he was looking forward to being a participant this year.

Kristi Sawatzki of Frankenmuth is drawing for the second year in a row. The walleye she caught this year was tagged in 2012.

Four of the contestants are from Roscommon County, one from Ohio, and the rest from Michigan.

The public is invited to Spicer’ Boat City, 4165 W Houghton Lake Dr, Houghton Lake April 8 from 1 to 3 p.m. There will be a live Facebook broadcast of interviews with the contestants and of the drawing with host Tom O’Boyle of Great Getaways TV. Local radio personality Tammy Thompson will be on site doing live radio broadcasts on 98.5 UPS/98.1 The Twister.

The drawing will take place between 2 and 2:15 p.m. Exciting news about the 2018-19 Catch Us If You Can contest will be announced including a new youth division. This contest runs from March 16, 2018 through March 15, 2019.

Joining the HLATB are major contest sponsors H&H Fireworks, Lyman’ on the Lake, and Spicer’ Boat City.
