REGION– With the upcoming firearm deer season, the Up North Voice wants to remind you to please send us your hunting photos! Please include names, and the city where you are from, and email alicia@upnorthvoice.com
Firearm deer season begins Sat., Nov. 15 and runs through Sun., Nov. 30, open statewide on both public and private lands. Last year, hunters harvested nearly 180,000 deer during the two-week season—about half of the state’s total annual harvest.
The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) urges hunters to stay safe and follow best practices: properly license and tag deer, handle firearms safely, know your target and surroundings, respect landowners, share public land, wear hunter orange, and follow baiting and hunting hour regulations.
Additional deer hunting opportunities include late archery (Dec. 1–Jan. 1), muzzleloader (Dec. 5–14), and late antlerless firearm (Dec. 1–Jan. 1).
