Tonya Ann Speary, lovingly known as Ta-Ta-Ann, passed away on July 22, 2026, in Omer, Michigan, at the age of 54.
She was born on December 24, 1971, in West Branch, Michigan, and lived a life marked by devotion, compassion, and strength. Tonya was a woman whose presence brought comfort and warmth to those around her, and she will be remembered for the love she gave so freely to her family and friends. Her life was centered on the people she cherished most, and she carried herself with a kindness that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
On October 7, 1989, Tonya married the love of her life, Richard Speary, and together they shared 36 years of love, partnership, and commitment. Their marriage was a beautiful example of enduring devotion, built on mutual respect, deep affection, and a lifetime of shared memories. Richard was not only her husband but also her closest companion, and together they created a family filled with love and devotion. Tonya was a proud and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and her family was the center of her world.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Speary; her son, Aaron Speary; her beloved grandchildren, Aurora and Theodore; her father and stepmother, Ronald and Jodi Bigelow; her brother, Jesse; and her sister, Veronica. Tonya was preceded in death by her mother, Florence Bigelow. The bonds she shared with her family were deeply meaningful, and she treasured every opportunity to be surrounded by those she loved. Her role as a mother and grandmother brought her great joy, and she embraced those relationships with tenderness and pride.
Tonya devoted her working life to helping others, serving as a Direct Care worker and offering support to individuals living with mental health issues. Her work reflected the compassionate nature that guided her throughout her life. She approached others with patience, understanding, and genuine care, and she made a difference in the lives of many through her dedication and empathy. Those who worked alongside her knew her as someone who gave her best each day and who carried a sincere desire to help others find comfort and stability.
Outside of her work, Tonya found happiness in the simple and meaningful moments of life. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and she especially loved being with those closest to her. She adored her puppy, Mongo, and found joy in the companionship and affection he brought into her life. She also enjoyed playing computer games, a pastime that gave her both relaxation and enjoyment. Tonya appreciated the everyday moments that became lasting memories, and she valued the laughter, conversations, and togetherness that came from time spent with loved ones.
Tonya Ann Speary will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Though her passing leaves a profound sorrow in the hearts of those who loved her, her life stands as a testament to devotion, compassion, and enduring love. Her family and friends will carry her memory with them always, cherishing the many ways she touched their lives and the love she gave so freely.
