Stanley Harwood, 86, of Tawas City

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Stanley A Harwood, age 86 of Tawas City, Michigan on Thursday, June 25, 2026 in Saginaw, Michigan, with his loving wife by his side. He was born on January 6, 1940 in Petoskey to the late Lester and Margaret Harwood (Swartout) and lived in Charlevoix.

Stanley graduated from Charlevoix High School in 1958, was active in sports and a member of the band. After high school, Stan attended Lake Superior State College for 2 years, then transferred to Michigan Tech University majoring in electrical engineering. After graduating from college, he went to work for General Motors in Flint and then to GMC Truck and Bus in Indianapolis until his retirement in September of 1992.

One of Stan’s favorite things to do was golf. He worked as a caddy at The Belvedere in Charlevoix. He played many golf courses with his wife, family and friends in Michigan, Indiana, Tennessee and Myrtle Beach to name a few. He finally got his Hole-In-One on June 5, 2005, Hole #14 at Buck’s Run in Mt. Pleasant. He was so proud of that accomplishment. He loved being outside! He enjoyed music, especially listening to the tuba and Mannheim Steamroller CDs as well as others.

With his electrical background he was able to help a lot of family and friends, and was nicknamed “Stan the Man”.

Stan will be remembered for his kind, loving, helpful, caring, easy going devotion to his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Angie (Krysinski) Harwood whom he married on June 14, 1996, along with his son Stanley II, daughter Carolyn, grandsons Thomas (Hannah ) Jungels and Tim (Kelli) Jungels, and two great grandchildren, Luca and Zoe, with two additional due to arrive in July and October, and the mother of his children Madelyn Harwood. He is also survived by his sister and brother in-laws, Frank Krysinski & Barb, Jennie & Ed Prohaska, Helen & Bob Kuehne, Aggie & Joe Malcolm, Mike & Mary Krysinski, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Stanley is preceded in death by his parents Lester & Margaret, stepfather Charles Howard, brothers Floyd (Leona ), N. Clare Harwood (Marybeth), and sister Esther Livingston (Robert).

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, June 30 at Buresh Funeral Home from 11am until time of service at Noon with Father Boks officiating. After the service, his body will be taken to the Polish National Catholic Cemetery in Standish, Michigan for burial.
