Support humane treatment of animals by donating locally

We have all been overdosed with tear-jerking ASPCA television commercials displaying sad, starving, abused animals, followed by poignant appeals for donations “to help fill their bowls.”

Did you know, however, that it takes well over 67,000 donors to simply pay the CEO of that non-profit his annual compensation? He isn’t the only ASPCA executive with a big bowl to fill. Numerous other high level staffers get generous six-figure compensation from an unsuspecting public.

This group also spends over $65 million dollars annually on advertising – vastly more than the 2% it gives to local animal humane society efforts.

Representing themselves as the defenders and saviors of animals, ASPCA didn’t make a peep when it was proudly revealed by Secretary of Homeland Security Christi Noem that she executed her young hunting dog and the ranch Billy goat because they both had annoyed her. She took them to a gravel pit and shot both of them in the head. The goat required a reload and second shot because she botched the execution with the first round.

If you want to help animals, donate locally. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals chief executive, Matt Bershadker, makes well over $1,200,000 per year, and only a pittance of their fundraising is shared locally with the money they rake in.

Help animals by giving locally to your area animal humane societies.
