Wayne Alan Wedell Fortney
Age 74, of Oscoda, MI, formerly of Waterford, MI, passed away at MyMichigan Medical Center in Tawas City, MI. He was born on December 19, 1950 in Pontiac, MI to the late Hilman and Mildred (Smith) Fortney.
In his youth, Wayne was a devoted Eagle scout. He worked for General Motors for 32 years before his retirement in 2005. Wayne loved trains and Model A cars; he was so proud of the Model A that he built with his dad. He also loved to travel, watch the steam ships, and report the weather. Wayne was a member of the Oakland County Model A Club, the Model A Restorer’s Club, and the Gilmore Car Museum.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Henrietta; daughters, Angela (Michael) Ross, Tonya (Shannon) Straley, Cassie (Tom) Blascyk, and Amber (Josh) Foote; brother, Lee Fortney; sisters, Lynn Robb and Debbie (Pete) Betanio; grandchildren, Madeline (John) Piatek, Nathan, Olivia, Ryan, Emma, Rowen, Makena, Charlotte, Atarah, Lucas, and Raynor; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, and brother-in-law, Rick Robb.
The family received friends on Friday, February 28, 2025 at Buresh Funeral Home in Oscoda, MI. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Oscoda, MI with visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM.
