Randy A. Avery
Age 57, of Tawas City, MI passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI. He was born on June 20, 1967 in Landcaster, PA to the late Duaine and Mary Avery (Fair).
Randy worked in construction for many years. In addition to belonging to the union for construction workers, he owned his own building company called Handy Randy and then years later changed the name of his company to L&R Home Improvement. Over the years he helped on the construction of many businesses and homes in the area. The Taco Bell in Standish, Glen’s (Family Fare) of West Branch, condominiums in Tawas City and additions to the Tawas St. Joseph Hospital were some of the many he helped build. Randy was a Jack of all trades and he excelled at woodworking. He was proud of his picnic tables for adults and small children along with many other things he built over the years.
He was very religious and loved answering any questions his family and friends would have. Randy enjoyed fishing especially with his son, Duaine. Randy loved taking Duaine down to the river when he was younger so they could spend the whole day fishing together. He loved collecting fire arms and the 4th of July and loved buying his own fireworks and lighting them off with his family and friends!
Randy was very close with his youngest daughter, Amber and loved showing up at her house in the morning for breakfast. Randy and Amber loved going to eat at Big Boys restaurant (Tawas MI) for their breakfast buffet! He loved his fiancé Leah very much and always did everything he could to make sure Leah knew his love for her! Randy was able to spend the last 12 years with Leah. But most importantly spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his 3 children, Duaine Avery of East Tawas, MI, Amber (Scott) Colton of Tawas City, MI, Tiffany Eschenburg; 11 grandchildren, Adrianna, Duaine Jr. (D.J.), Emma, Joslynn, Sophia, Wyatt, Treasure, Cali, Randey, Vincent and Legend. Randy is also survived by his fiancé Leah Venner and her son Robert (McKayla) Patterson, and his niece Stephanie Vanatta and nephew Robert Avery. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Tammy (Avery) Sims and niece Amanda O’Dell.
