Wendy Sue Shafer, age 61, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, in West Branch, MI. She was born on January 22, 1963, in Michigan City, IN. She was known for her infectious laughter and was recognized as a caring and loving individual by everyone who crossed her path.
Wendy had a deep love for her family and enjoyed spending quality time with her grandchildren. Her warm presence and kind heart touched the lives of many. The last three weeks of her life she accepted Jesus and was baptized.
Wendy is survived by her children: Katelyn Near & Jay Perry, James and Nancy Fournier, Lisa Fournier, Michael Fournier Jr. & Jessica Carman; grandchildren: Colin Fournier, Kade Perry, Brynden Smith, Skylar Smith, Jasmyn Botkins, Jaydon Botkins, and Damien Ulicki; mothers: Leota Acoin and Kathleen Shafer; siblings: Carl Shafer Jr., Linda and Scott Peters, Daniel Shafer Sr., Kathy and Rick Vantroostenberghe Sr.; along with many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father Carl Shafer Sr., sister in law Jeannie Shafer, and nephews Jeremy Shafer and Daniel Shafer III.
Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Father Emmanuel Finbarr will officiate. Burial at Edwards Township Cemetery will follow the service.
