Elly ‘Oma’ Frisby, 85, of Hillman

Mrs. Elly “Oma” Elisabet Frisby, 85 of Hillman, Michigan died peacefully at Hillman’s Haven with her children at her side on the evening of April 17, 2024. She was born in Bad Nauheim, Germany on November 1, 1938 to Wilhelm and Katharina (Berthold) Petermann. She met her husband, Albert Frisby, in Germany while he was stationed there with the US Army. They were married on July 4, 1959 in Germany. The couple would celebrate 42 years of marriage together before Albert’s passing in December of 2001. Elly and Albert raised their family in Memphis, MI. She loved to shop and could often be found ordering through QVC. One of her proudest moments was when she became a US citizen. She had a bold personality, a sassy disposition, and a big heart. She adored her children and grandchildren and will be missed deeply by those who knew and loved her. 

Elly is survived by her children, William Frisby; Katharina Jelinek; Heidi (Michael) Nowaczewski; grandchildren, Nikol, Gabriela, Cody, Steel, Kyle, Jenae, Jeydon; and great-grandchild, Ean. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilhelm and Katharina Petermann; husband, Albert Frisby; daughter-in-law, Jenice Frisby; and son-in-law, Paul Jelinek. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. The family has chosen to remember Elly privately at this time. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s cancer research.
