Garry “Jake” Dale Sundberg, age 62 of South Branch, MI., passed away on October 18, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Jake was born on March 21, 1961 in Garden City, MI., to the late Albert and Ruth (Sakkinen) Sundberg. He lived in Curtisville, MI. in his early years, but resided in the South Branch area for most of his adult life where he was a skilled finish carpenter in both residential and commercial construction.
Jake met the love of his life, Joyce Schroeder, and they had over 30 wonderful years together. When he was not working he was always out helping people in the area, especially seniors, with his handyman skills. Jake enjoyed fishing, picking mushrooms, feeding the birds and squirrels, going for Sunday drives on the local back roads. He loved being in nature as often as possible. Jake was a real jokester and loved to laugh. He always had a good joke for anyone and enjoyed bringing humor to peoples lives.
Jake is survived by his lifelong companion, Joyce; step-children, Jim, Bonny, Ed, Amy, Tom; brothers, Rodney, Roger, Larry (Tammy); sisters, Konnie Sundberg, Donna Sundberg, Sheri (Pete) Pizzurow, and many nieces and nephews.
Jake is preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Sandra Sundberg.
Services for Jake will be held at the Buresh Funeral Home in Hale, MI., on Monday, October 23, 2023. Visitation 9:30am – 1:30pm. Funeral at 1:30pm with interment to follow at the Oak Grove cemetery in South Branch.
