Gale Whitford, 95, of Gladwin

Gale Lee Whitford of Gladwin, MI passed away September 9, 2023.

Gale was born April 11, 1928 in Orange County, Ca to Stanley Whitford and Alice Pitcher.

On June 25, 1949 he married Mona Perkins (deceased) and had four daughters. Nancy Lee Mullins (Terry)-both deceased, Sandra Gale Bostwick (Micheal), Deborah Kanyo (Ken), and Wendy Christian.

In 1975, he married Mary Ann Riley and gained 5 more bonus children. Lee Ann Hoben (deceased) husband Henry, William Riley (Bobbie), Paula Marken (Gary), Jean Marie Drew (John).

Together they had 21 grandchildren and several great children.

Gale was a self-made man, who started his own roofing and siding business in South Lyon, MI which turned into a huge wholesale business-Lee Wholesale in New Hudson, MI selling roofing, siding, windows and more.

He was a huge community minded man-who was the chairperson of the South Lyon 100 year Centennial Celebrations, president of the South Lyon JC’ was always part of the Chamber of Commerce, Builders Clubs, and the Gladwin Lions Club.

He was a lifelong hunter and fisherman, and later enjoyed golfing.

Gale had many titles in his lifetime-a working machine, the Whisler, but most of all Storyteller.

One of his favorite things to do is talk about his adventures to Australia.

Gale was blessed to have 30 years of retirement with his wife in their beautiful log cabin in Gladwin, MI

Memorial arrangements will be on Saturday, September 30, 2023, 1:00 P.M. at the Riverwalk Place, 777, West Cedar Avenue, Gladwin, Michigan, 48624.
