Sylvia Marriane Newman, age 83, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility in Coldwater, MI. She was born on August 13, 1939, in Cleveland, OH. Her parents were Arnold and Sophie (DeLura) Samide. She lived in West Branch, MI for 20 years, formerly of Detroit.
Sylvia graduated from Cody High School in Detroit. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Branch and helped with the Knights of Columbus #2022 with her husband. She loved raising her family and enjoyed writing letters and cards to her family and friends.
Sylvia is survived by her sons Steve (Lori) Rowe and Marty (Dawn) Rowe; daughter in law Kathy Rowe; and sister Carol (Chub) LeFleur; grandchildren Bethany (Michael) Delessandro, Kacey Stringer, Brandon (Yaritza) Rowe, Kurt (Taylor) Rowe, Jesse Rowe, Jake Rowe, Kameron Barrow, and Montgomery Barrow; and great granddaughters Giana, Gabriella, Abbigale, Ava Rae, Lillie, and Annabelle.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ronald Newman, and son Vince Rowe.
The funeral mass will be on Monday, April 17, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Branch at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Father Emmanuel Finbarr will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in West Branch.
