Tom Zimmerman, 80, of Roscommon

Thomas Charles Zimmerman, age 80, of Roscommon, died on Saturday, March 4, 2023, in Roscommon, Michigan, in the presence and comfort of his family.

Tom was born December 1, 1942, in Faribault, Minnesota, the son of Orrin and Marion (Embury) Zimmerman.

Tom’s passions were a lifelong love for the outdoors and fitness, which lead him to his career with the YMCA. He loved the people of his community and church. Most of all, Tom cherished the time spent with the love of his life, Karen. They loved antiquing. The family will remember Tom and Karen’s extravagantly eccentric Victorian home decorated with their antique dolls and vintage toys.

Tom will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his children: Kyle T. (Melissa) Zimmerman of Monroe, Louisiana, and Kami (Derek) Boik of Roscommon, Michigan; grandchildren: Eliot, Edith, Brandon, Eddie; brother, Terry Zimmerman of Chatfield; sister, Liz Alsbury; his special friend, Sharon; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Karen.

Tom’s family has chosen to remember him privately at this time.

The family prefers memorial contributions be made in Tom’s name to the Putnam County YMCA or the Endowment Fund of Trinity United Methodist Church in Ottawa, Ohio.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wagner and Walsh Funeral Directors, Roscommon.
