Ron Miscisin, 89, of Oscoda

Our beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, Ronald Philip Miscisin of Oscoda Michigan, passed from this world and entered eternal life on Monday March 20th, 2023, at the age of 89. His departure has bruised the hearts of his family and friends who will miss his humor, wry smile and his loving kindness.

The son of Ella and Nick Miscisin, Ron grew up in Flint, Michigan as the older sibling of his sister Mary. He was guard and lineman of his football team in the first graduating class from Sacred Heart High School, and received his BS and MS degrees at University of Michigan and Wayne State University.

Ron maintained a vibrant, active and curious life, sharing this with his family and community. Full of vitality, Ron was an avid exerciser and rarely missed his daily walk or calisthenics. Growing up in an era with traditional dancing, Ron always enjoyed community partner dances. He gracefully waltzed his wife into his life and later would sweep his daughters off their feet in a lively polka or the first dance at their weddings. He kept up with his ten spirited children by building them playhouses and giant sandboxes as well as taking them on annual camping trips. He shared his love of music with his children and grandchildren through his talented accordion and harmonica playing, especially at family reunions. A tradition of woodworking passed down for generations to Ron was a passion he shared that will be continued and valued through his grandchildren.

As a lifelong devout Catholic, and engaged community member Ron was deeply involved with his parish beginning as an altar boy in his youth at Sacred Heart Church in Flint Michigan to his later years as an active member of Knights of Columbus (council 5083, 4th degree, assembly 0486) in Oscoda, Michigan. He maintained friendships in the community and as a member of the VFW, as a veteran of the Korean war. Ron touched the lives of many through his career as a Math and Industrial Arts teacher, as a Director of Vocational Rehabilitation and as a Tax Consultant.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, sister and wife Jean Marie. He leaves behind ten children Evelyn, Mary, David, Therese, Martin, John, Michelle, Karen, Matthew and Michael as well as seventeen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. After 62 years together and the passing of his devoted wife, Jean Marie, Ron was able to discover love again with Beverley Feckovic. Just weeks before they were to be married Ron experienced a massive stroke. Beverley remained by his side and connected with family members until he took his last breath and joined God in heaven.

All are invited to celebrate and remember the life of Ronald P. Miscisin in a funeral mass to be held at the Sacred Heart Church 5300 N US 23, Oscoda, Michigan 48750, on Tuesday, March 28th, 2023 at 11:00 am (instate at 10:00 am). Interment will take place in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI.
