Age 75, of Whittemore, Michigan, passed away peacefully in Tawas City, Michigan, on February 13, 2023. Richard was born in West Branch, Michigan, on February 15, 1947, to the late John Brown and Lena Provost. He was a lifelong resident of Whittemore, and attended Whittemore-Prescott schools all the way up until graduation. Following high school, he went to work at Magline Inc. in Pinconning, where he spent 40+ years as a member of their team. He met and married the love of his life, June Brown on December 1st, 1973. The two spent 47 tremendous years together before her passing in 2021. Richard attended Whittemore Baptist Church for many years, serving as a trustee, usher, and handyman. Some of his hobbies/talents consisted of working with metal fabrications, hunting, fishing, fixing things, building, tinkering with random things, helping people, playing cards, going to church, boating, camping, traveling, and most importantly spending quality time with his family.
John is survived by his son, John Richard Brown Jr. (Tonya); grandchildren, Zyler, Quorra, Thorin, Alaina, Bella, Mason, and Joshua; and his nieces/nephews, Matt, Brian, Shelly, Brandon, Tiffany, Lydia, Ben, and Laniese. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, June Brown.
A memorial service will be held at Whittemore Baptist Church in Whittemore, Michigan, on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at 11:00 AM. The family will welcome public at 10:00 AM for a time a visitation until the service begins.
