Dorothy Scheid, 98, of Standish

Dorothy Scheid, age 98, loving mother, grandmother and sister went to be with the Lord on January 31, 2023, at Huron Woods Nursing Center where she was under McLaren Hospice care.

Dorothy was born on January 20, 1925, to the late Charles and Stella (Jamrog) Maday. She graduated from Sterling High School in 1943 then went to work in Saginaw during WWII to support the war effort.

She married the love of her life, James W. Scheid on September 17, 1949. Dorothy was a member of Resurrection of the Lord Parish in Standish and a member of the daughters of Isabella. Dorothy loved to listen to music while raising her two sons. After they were in school, she worked as a bookkeeper for at least two local Standish businesses in the days before computers.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren, and they always brought a smile to her face. When family stopped in, it was time to get the board games out.

Dorothy is survived by her son; James L (Karen) Scheid, daughter-in-law Susan Scheid, brother Ted (Marie) Maday, grandchildren; Lon Scheid, Shane (Mickie) Scheid, Samantha Scheid, Missy Clark, Stephanie (Gerrud) Klumpp, and Brian Scheid, great grandchildren; Ava, Benjamin and Brooklyn Klumpp, Laci Jo Stanton, Brody and Sydney Scheid, and several nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded by her loving husband, James W. Scheid, son, Tom Scheid, brothers, Frank and Robert Maday and sister Rita Sharp.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at 11 am from Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. David Parsch presiding with burial in Resurrection of the Lord Cemetery. Friends may visit at the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home-Standish Chapel on Monday, from 2 till 8 pm. On Tuesday, Dorothy will lie in state at the church from 10 am until time of mass.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to Huron Woods Nursing Center and McLaren Hospice for the compassionate care given to Dorothy.
