Shirley Loper, 82, of Bentley

Shirley Lynn Loper, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt was called to her heavenly home Friday, December 2, 2022. Shirley passed away with her husband and children at her bed side following a lengthy illness. Shirley was born April 12, 1940 in Standish, Michigan to the late Charles and Hattie (Hartman) Haas. She was married to Gerald Loper on February 20, 1959, having 4 children together. Shirley was a life long member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 63 years, Gerald Loper and their daughter in-law, Carol Loper, 2 daughters: Deanna (Mike) Curnow and Tari (Mark) Stielau, and son Jeff (Melissa) Loper. She is also survived by her unofficial adopted son, Brian Podsiadlik. Shirley is survived by 8 grandchildren; Scott (Stephanie) Loper, Lauren (Matt) Pfeiler, William Bidwell, Joni (Kyle) Palmer, Kimberlee Stielau, Adam Stielau, Zachary (Ally) Funnell, Kaylyn (Zach) Carroll and seventeen great grandchildren. Shirley is survived by her brother, Robert (Sonja) Haas and sister, Christine Mason. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Hattie Haas, son, Scott Loper, brother, Gerald Haas and sister, Carol Haas.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at 1:00 pm at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Johnsfield Rd., Standish, Michigan with Pastor Matthew Dent officiating. Shirley will lie instate at the church from 10:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in Gibson Township Cemetery, Bentley, Michigan. In lieu of flowers those considering an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Bethlehem Lutheran Church or the Parkinson’s Research Foundation. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Lee Ramsay Funeral Home-STANDISH CHAPEL, Standish, Michigan.
