Norma K. “Kathy” Gusler, age 84 of Mio, Michigan, passed away at her home, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, December 6, 2022.
Kathy was born in Fairview, Michigan on June 8, 1938 to Jack and Marie (Notestine) Smith. She married Robert Gusler on July 7, 1955. Kathy loved her husband and family and was a true friend to many. She used to sing in the “Sweet Adalines”. She loved gardening and mowing her huge front lawn, just to be outside. Flowers covered her yard. She also enjoyed canning and was a great cook. Kathy also enjoyed watching birds, taking rides on her golf cart through their 40 acres. She was a real Michigan Sports fan. She collected Cameos, a lot of them were given to her. Robert built a china cabinet for her and she was so proud of her collection. Kathy always had a smile on her face, even when she was down, right up to the end.
Kathy is survived by her children: Cynthia (Ronnie) Queen, Bradley (Ronda) Gusler, Lisa Gusler, Keith (Yvonne) Gusler, and Allen Bruce; her sister Virginia (Earl) Stitt; her brother John (Marty) Smith; 16 grandchildren: Jenny (Jim) Labo, Joe (Brook) Stutesman, Jamie (Angie) Stutesman, Corina (Sam) Gingerich, Carrie (Allen) Arcalas, Casey (Jeremy) Whaley, Ashley (Corey) Morse, Shannon (Jon) Ellsworth, Scott (Christina) Gusler, Doug Gusler, Randy (Angie) Gusler, Grant (Libby) Shephard, Brice (Bekah) Shephard, Johnna Oldenburg, Lily Gusler, and Izzy Gusler; 25 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Jack & Marie Smith, her husband Robert M. Gusler, her daughter Roberta Bruce, her son Robert M. Gusler, Jr., and her sister Patricia Scott.
Visitation on Friday, December 9, 2022 from 4:30 – 8:00 PM at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI. She will also lie in state on Saturday, December 10, 2022 from 10:00 AM until Funeral Services at 11 AM at the TriPoint Church of God, Mio, Michigan with Pastor Jody Coon officiating. In accordance with her wishes, cremation will follow the services.
