Jimmie Nelson, 70, of Hale

Jimmie Allen Nelson, age 70, passed away December 1, 2022 due to heart failure.

He was born May 23, 1952 to George Allen Nelson and Dorothy Alice (Stockinger) Nelson in Flint Michigan. The family later moved to Tawas City where he was raised and joined the USMC in 1969 and returned home in 1972 and married his Love Susan Marie Horger. They had two children James Micheal and Donna Marie and moved to Oscoda.

Jimmie worked with Leroy Conley clear cutting and then in the mid-80s went to work for Lecureux and Marshall driving semi until 1996 when Jimmie and his wife moved to Texas to be tandem truck drivers for Grondyke hauling chemicals cross country. He was driving with the love of his life. Jimmie retired in 2014 and resided in Hale with his wife.

He was a man that did not like to be still, always had to be busy doing something. Jimmie believed in the conviction of Hard work and providing for his family. Although he had a hard exterior, he was soft at heart and was a pushover for his grandkids and his many nieces and nephews. Jimmie loved his family and spending time hunting, fishing, canoeing, and camping.

He is survived by son James Micheal Nelson, daughter Donna (Dominic) Greco; sister Patricia Ann (Hugh) Powell, sister-in-law Audrey Nelson; four grandchildren, Alexandriah Nelson, Ashley Greco, Dartagnan Nelson, Rebekah Sue Nelson and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Dorothy, wife Susan, daughter-in-law Angie, sisters Shirlene Turner, Bonnie Palmateir, Shirley Coon and brother Ronnie Nelson.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 pm on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at the Buresh Funeral Home in Oscoda, MI. Services will be private, and the interment will take place in the Oscoda Pinecrest Cemetery.
