Mrs. Doris Elizabeth Shumaker, 92 of Hillman, Michigan died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones at her home on December 25, 2022. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 31, 1930, to the late, Henry Adam and Vera Young (Lynn) Berry. She was a member of the Snowbird Club and the Red Hats. She enjoyed watching the wildlife from her deck and playing cards with a group of friends, as well as spending time with family during dinners and family cookouts. She is and will be deeply missed.
Doris is survived by her children, Patti (Dick) Krupnek, Sally Kavanaugh, Jim Shumaker, Tom (Penny) Shumaker; grandchildren, Tyler Schalk, Devon Shumaker, Amanda Shumaker, Derek Shumaker; and great-grandson, Isaac Shumaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Vera Berry; husband, Robert Shumaker; and daughter, Vicki Josephites.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. The family has chosen to remember Doris privately at this time. There will be a memorial held in celebration of her life in the Spring or Summer with the date and time to be announced later. Memorials can be made in memory of Doris to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 22000 County Rd 452, Hillman, Michigan 49746.
