Dick Bonsole, 86, of Oscoda

Richard “Dick” Bonsole ,age 86, of Oscoda, Michigan, passed away at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on December 6, 2022, with his family by his side.

Richard was born on March 11, 1936, in Roseville, Michigan to the late Frank Bonsole and Mary Domisic. He was a lifelong resident of the Oscoda, Michigan area, and was a proud graduate of the 1954 Oscoda Owls Class. Following graduation, Richard enlisted into the United States Army where he served for two years doing tours in Iceland and Germany. After being honorably discharged in 1958, he returned to Oscoda, Michigan where he began working as a mail carrier for the post office in town. He spent 37 hardworking years with the postal service before he retired in 1995.

In 1967 he was married to the love of his life, Doris Bonsole (Collins), and they shared 55 great years together. Some of Richard’s hobbies consisted of bowling, softball, hunting, boating on the Ausable River, being a member of the American Legion, and most importantly spending some quality time with his family.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Doris Bonsole; 5 children, Patrick Bonsole of Davidson, Michigan, Richard (Kristi) Bonsole of Las Vegas, Nevada, Sandra (Dan) Southwell of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jerry (Gina) Bailey of Joplin, Missouri, and Karen (Ellis) Foley of Wolfe City, Texas; sister, Sylvia Jurecic; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Valeria Priest, and Peggy Dreger.

There will be a time of visiting for Richard on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Buresh Funeral Homes in Oscoda, Michigan from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM with a service to follow at 1:00 PM. Following the funeral, Richard will be laid to rest at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Oscoda, Michigan. You may offer online condolences at www.bureshfuneralhomes.com.
