Robert Venable, 87, of Luzerne

Robert was a proud US Marine and Veteran of the Korean War. He also had the honor of being elected Grand Knight by his fellow Knights of Columbus. He was the owner of Bob’s Barber Shop, first in Mio, then relocating to Luzerne. Bob loved being a volunteer driver for DHS and Hospice of Michigan. He received the Volunteer of the Year Award from Hospice of Michigan.

Bob is survived by his wife of 67 years Catherine “Kitty”; his daughters: Anne (Dale) Poyner, Theresa (Keith) Peetsch, Lynn Marie (Mark) McArthur, Joan Fowler, Laura (Lou) Jacklyn, and Susan (Bill) Eichman; 7 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents: Robert and Oleta (Thomas) Venable; his sisters: Jean, Joyce, and Lillian; and son-in-law George Fowler.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 from 3 – 8 PM at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, Michigan, with a Vigil Prayer Service and Knights of Columbus Services beginning at 7 PM. On Thursday, November 3, 2022, he will lie in state at St. Mary Catholic Church, Mio, Michigan from 10 AM until the Funeral Mass at 11 AM with Fr. Santiago Hoyumpa as Celebrant. Following the Mass, Military Honors will be offered at the Church by the Luzerne and Mio American Legion Post and the Mio VFW Post. In accordance with Bob’s wishes, cremation will follow the Mass. Interment of Ashes will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan at a later date.
