Duane Klamer

Albert “Duane” Klamer, 88, of Gladwin, Michigan went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at The Pines Nursing Center in Gladwin after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was born on June 23, 1934 in Flint, Michigan to parents Albert and Verna (Jungman) Klamer.

Duane married his beloved wife Darlene Nash on July 8, 1956 in Gladwin and they spent 66 happy years together.

Duane was very mechanically inclined from a young age, adding a motor to his bike at the age of 9. He started his career working at Orr Motor Sales in Gladwin as parts manager and mechanic alongside his uncle Harold. He then worked as a mechanical assembler at Brown Machine in Beaverton, Michigan for 33 years before his retirement in 1996. Some of his favorite hobbies included working on his classic cars and fixing anything with a motor. He was always willing to offer assistance to his fellow classic and antique car enthusiasts.

Retirement brought Duane many happy memories entertaining his grandchildren by giving them rides in his classic convertibles and stopping for ice cream at the Corner House. If Hank Williams or Ernest Tubb tunes were playing, he loved to sing along and kick up his heels on occasion. When Duane shook your hand, the job got done. He let his actions do the talking for him. Duane valued his Christian faith above all else. He was a life-long and devoted member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Gladwin.

He leaves behind his wife: Darlene Klamer; children: Terri (Tom) Jessmore and Ken (Jodie) Klamer; grandchildren: Laura and Aaron Jessmore and Katie, Carleigh and Danielle Klamer; brothers: Ron (Josette) and Larry Klamer; brother-in-law Don Nash; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents Albert and Verna, sister Ruth Ann Klamer, and sister-in-law Marie Klamer.

Funeral services was conducted at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Gladwin, Michigan on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Lance Klamer officiating. Arrangements are in the care of Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home.
