Charles “Chuck” Roy Gates, of Twining, passed away peacefully at the Standish Skilled Nursing Center on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, age 95 years. Chuck was born in Omer, Michigan on November 22, 1927. He lived a long and full life in which he had just celebrated his 95th birthday!
He had so many life-long stories and he truly loved sharing those with everyone. He would recall and smile while telling about his many years being a lineman, which included traveling throughout the country to his days growing up on a family farm. Chuck had a God given gift of playing string instruments. He loved writing beautiful poetry and drawing all sorts of characters and nature scapes. He was an avid canoe racer and enjoyed fishing and golfing. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy for 2 years after high school graduation. Later in life, Chuck had the honor of becoming an ordained Priest in the Community of Christ Church, a title and position he upheld with dignity and respect. Chuck knew the Lord and loved God, the church, and God’s people. He will be cherished and loved by everyone who knew him.
Chuck is survived by his beloved wife, 2 children, and many more special family members.
Funeral services for Chuck were held on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at the Buresh Funeral Home in Twining with Pastor Ladd White officiating. Chuck will be laid to rest in his family’s plot at Cedar Valley Cemetery in Twining.
