Bonna Bonham

Bonnajean “Bonna” Bonham,as she was known to family and friends, passed peacefully from the final leg of her journey on earth into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday evening, November 15.

Bonna was born on September 14, 1930, in Stanton, Michigan, to Claire and Marjorie Olin. She recently celebrated her 92nd birthday. She spent her early childhood in Stanton and later in Good Hart, where her father was a church planting pastor. She eventually moved to Gladwin where she attended and graduated from high school. This is where she met Marvin Bonham and they married on June 3, 1950. Together they raised three children: Mark (Mary) Bonham of Kalamazoo, David (Colleen/deceased) Bonham of Gladwin, and Deanna (Jim) Hanley of Bay City. They enjoyed 63 years of marriage before Marvin passed away in 2013. Eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren will deeply miss their Grandma Bonham.

Bonna worked eighteen years as a ParaPro at the Clare-Gladwin Area School and as a school bus driver for that school. Bonna was an active member of Cornerstone Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and served in the women’s mission group. She actively participated in the community Home Economics group and ran a small Western Wear store out of their home for some years. She enjoyed hospitality and serving others. She was creative, enjoying arts and crafts. She was a resident at the Brook in Gladwin since 2014.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 19 at 2:00 pm at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 3925 Round Lake Rd., Gladwin. Visitation will precede the service starting at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers donations to Cornerstone Baptist Church or Hospice of My Michigan are appreciated.
