Randy Lamont, 67, of Au Gres

Randy (Randall) Lamont passed away peacefully on Friday, October 28, 2022. He was born on December 20, 1954 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Carole J. (Harrington) Zanner and Richard W. Lamont. Randy was raised by his mother Carole and step-“dad” Louis H. (Bud) Zanner in Au Gres, Michigan.

Surviving are his son Andrew Lamont of Au Gres; granddaughter Bailee Lamont of Lansing; brothers Richard K. (Linda) Lamont, Wesley (Cindy) Lamont; Jon Lamont all of Saginaw and Kurt Zanner of Charlotte, NC; sister Heidi (Brad) Dewald of Au Gres; and nephew Richard D. (Rachel) Lamont of Glenshaw, PA. He was preceded in death by his son Christopher R. Lamont.

He served in the US Navy as a Seabee, and was a self-employed Owner and steel fabricator at Zanner Products, Inc. in Tawas City, Michigan until he retired.

Randy resided with his girlfriend Gena Hill in Au Gres, where he maintained an abundance of flowers and loved to watch the birds and wildlife in his yard. He enjoyed fishing at Browns Lake for perch with his life-long friend Todd Sanford. He was well known for his barbeque ribs, and had not made a bad batch since 1986! Most recently, he enjoyed teaching Gena’s grandchildren outdoor activities including archery. He will especially miss hearing stories of the kids’ school sports and decorating with them for Christmas. The Grandchildren Kaliyah, Kei-Ambra, Kei-Anya, Aaliyah, Jakie, Chippy, Marcell, and Tayia and their parents Krista and Jacob will deeply miss “Papa Randy”.

Friends may call at Buresh Funeral Homes, located at 101 E. Michigan Ave., Au Gres, MI 48703, between 11:00 am – 1:00 pm Thursday, November 3 until the time of service. Funeral services will take place immediately following the visitation at 1:00 pm with Reverend Thomas Harvey officiating. Procession from the Funeral Home will follow for the Burial Service with military honors at Sims-Whitney Cemetery.
