Leland (Ed) E. Lewis Jr. born February 8, 1950 to Dorotha and Leland Lewis in Saginaw, Michigan passed away October 5, 2022 at his lakefront home in Au Gres, Michigan from cardiac arrest. He loved living by the lake, watching and tracking freighters, feeding birds, fishing, and boating.
He was an Air Force “military brat” and traveled with his family to various military bases all over the world, including Johnson Air Force Base in Japan. Ed served in the Army from September 5, 1968 until October 4, 1971. He was stationed in Stuttgart, Germany and Warren, Michigan. Once he left the Army, he worked in construction for his uncle Jim Lyons in Saginaw. Eventually, Ed joined the IBEW Local #557 as an electrician, retiring in March 2008.
He met his wife of 53 years, Linda (Ketzel) Lewis in the Philippines in 1966 while both of their fathers were stationed there in the Air Force. They were married on February 22, 1969 in Biloxi, Mississippi. Ed leaves behind his daughter Jennifer (Brian) Todd. Jennifer made Ed a dad and brought constant joy into his world. He also leaves behind his son Leland (Kristin) E. Lewis III. Lee and his dad shared the same wit and sense of humor.
He is also survived by his sisters, Deborah Serban of Flushing, MI and Martha Ducat of Lambertville, MI. He has left behind his five beautiful, talented, loving grandchildren; Benjamin Todd, Yina Todd, Matthew Todd, Brett Lewis, and Lauren Lewis. He was so immensely proud of all five of his grandchildren and would brag about them any chance he could get. Ed loved his wife, sisters, children, and grandchildren with his whole heart. Ed was predeceased by his father, Leland E. Lewis Sr., mother Dorotha Lewis, and sister Margaret Lewis.
Private family services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, or other expressions of sympathy, the family would like donations to be made to it Takes a Village (Closet Exchange) in Au Gres.
